The Palace
In the heart of Genoa stands one of the most remarkable testimonies of late Baroque painting: Palazzo Fieschi Negrone, an aristocratic residence that still captivates visitors with the extraordinary preservation of its frescoes. Born from the union of the Fieschi and Negrone families, the palace witnessed in the eighteenth century the work of some of Genoa’s most important artists. Domenico Piola decorated the salons dedicated to the myths of Aurora and Cephalus and of Apollo and Mercury, leaving precious traces of the city’s great artistic season.
What makes the palace truly unique are the frescoes by Sebastiano Galeotti, master of colour and drawing, author of the Triumph of Public Happiness and the Triumph of the Noble Arts. His allegorical figures, meticulous and vibrant, conceal historical clues hidden among dates, symbols and architectural references. Between myths, nineteenth-century interventions and refined pictorial inventions, Palazzo Fieschi Negrone reveals itself today as a precious treasure chest in which art, memory and wonder continue to converse.

History
Founded in 1612 in an area that had been central since the early Middle Ages, the palace stands beside the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and just steps away from the Doge’s Palace. Listed in the Rolli since 1614 and attributed to Vincenzo Scamozzi, it preserves its celebrated black-and-white marble façade, set back in the nineteenth century for the opening of Via San Lorenzo. Today it remains a lasting presence in the city’s identity.
